SWAT Hits Dove Hill Home as Cops Seize Guns and Drugs

On Tuesday, a quiet stretch of Dove Hill Road in La Salle turned into a full-on police operation as La Salle officers, backed by the Weld County Regional SWAT team, served a search warrant at a home in the 900 block. Police say the search uncovered multiple illegally possessed firearms and narcotics, with several people arrested or briefly detained. No injuries were reported.

What Officers Say They Found

In a Facebook update, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and La Salle officers recovered several illegally possessed firearms and narcotics inside the residence. The home sits in the Dove Hill area, in the 900 block of Dove Hill Road, a location that falls within town limits according to the Town of La Salle.

Arrests And Charges

Officers first located a 43-year-old man at a nearby gas station, where he was taken into custody without incident. According to the department, he was arrested on an outstanding warrant that lists multiple counts, including felony and misdemeanor child abuse, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and reckless endangerment.

A 47-year-old man was arrested on an unrelated misdemeanor warrant, police said. At the scene, officers also cited a 36-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman for possession of drug paraphernalia. Several other people who were contacted during the operation were detained temporarily and later released.

“Individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” the Weld County Sheriff’s Office noted in its post.

Why SWAT Was Called

La Salle police described the warrant service as a planned, high-risk operation that they say required tactical support to secure the property and protect both residents and officers. The Weld County Regional SWAT team, formed in 2005 and staffed by officers from multiple agencies across the county, typically handles critical incidents and planned high-risk entries, according to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.
