Weld stretches paving work to include County Road 34

Weld County road crews will remove and replace about 1.3 miles of asphalt along Weld County Road 34 east of Mead, combining that work with a project to extend the High Plains Boulevard.

“We understand construction and road closures can be an inconvenience. That’s why we always try to get as much done under one closure as possible,” said Scott James, Weld County Commissioner Chair. “We believe the traveling public will be happy with High Plains Boulevard, and the extra paving of WCR 34 only adds to that value.”

The High Plains Boulevard construction is an ongoing project funded jointly by Weld County and the Town of Mead to build a new north-south road east of Interstate 25. Plans call for extending the boulevard, also called Weld County Road 9.5, from WCR 32 north a mile to WCR 34.

During paving, the existing asphalt will also be removed and new asphalt placed on WCR 34, starting from High Plains Boulevard project and extending east about 1.3 miles to WCR 13…
