Miami Gardens Mom Won’t Rest Until Son’s Killer Is Found

Tanya Lopez is doing what no parent ever wants to do: begging the public to help find the person who killed her child. Her son, 32-year-old Reginald “Reggie” Williams, was shot and killed in Miami Gardens, and his death has left the family searching for answers. Lopez told reporters she is desperate for anyone with information to come forward, calling this latest public appeal the family’s ongoing effort to keep attention on a case they say remains unsolved.

In an exclusive interview, Lopez spoke with CBS News Miami and described the pain the loss has left behind. The station aired Lopez’s emotional plea and reported that the family is still hoping witnesses or neighbors will step up with information that could move the investigation forward.

Family Pushes Petition, Points To Straw Purchase

Lopez has started a petition on Change.org calling for a “Reginald Williams Law” to crack down on so-called straw purchases. The petition alleges Reggie was shot multiple times and that the gun used reached the shooter through an illegal transfer. Created on Sept. 18, 2025, the petition listed more than 300 verified supporters at the time of publication. Family members say the effort is both a way to seek justice for Reggie and to push for policy changes they believe could prevent similar tragedies.
