I liked Smorgasburg when it used to be in Miami, so I recently took my mom to the Fort Lauderdale location for a mother-daughter Sunday lunch.
🍽️ State of plate: For the uninitiated, Smorgasburg is an open-air food market featuring a variety of vendors and cuisines.
- Picture rows of cooks grilling, smoking and frying up tasty handheld foods under tailgate tents.
🥵 The vibe: Hot.
- But there are plenty of covered picnic benches.
- Parking was also very easy with a large lot right next door.
🍵 What we drank: We started off with the iced salted maple matcha ($10 each) from Numu matcha — our favorite purchase of the day.
- The maple added the perfect amount of sweetness, and the matcha was very smooth without any grassy taste.
🍜 What we ate: I really wanted to try the lobster roll from the Lazy Oyster, but my mom was worried about the mayo sitting in the heat.
- We decided on the Korean beef bulgogi bowl ($17.07) from Authentic Korean Kitchen and chicken tacos ($16.05) from La Llorona.
- I loved the sweet potato glass noodles in the bulgogi bowl.
🧑⚖️ The verdict: My mom and I enjoyed what we ordered, but we both expected a bigger variety of options, including more retail vendors…
