Newsstand: Notre Dame WR commit Julius Jones Jr. breaks impressive St. Thomas Aquinas record

As pointed out by League Ready on Twitter and confirmed by Blue & Gold and Rivals’ Andy Villamarzo, Notre Dame wide receiver commit Julius Jones Jr. broke an impressive school record during his game Saturday night.

Jones now holds Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas’ all-time career receiving yard record, passing Cameron Benson, who set the record in 1979. Jones now sits at 1,897 yards and counting as the senior is a near lock to become the first to break the 2,000-yard plateau at St. Thomas Aquinas.

It’s an impressive feat for any pass catcher to break his school’s receiving record, but doing so at St. Thomas Aquinas is even more impressive, considering it’s been one of the best programs in the Sunshine State for decades. It’s also the school that produced top-notch wide receivers Michael Irvin, Elijah Moore and Phillip Dorsett
