The Palm Beach County school district lost almost 7,000 students over the last year, according to district data, joining two other South Florida school districts that have also experienced significant declines in enrollment.
A spokesperson told The Palm Beach Post that the district would implement a hiring hold in order to “mitigate” the drop in funding that would result from the enrollment loss, adding that further reductions to the district’s budget will occur when the fiscal year 2028 budget is developed.
