MIAMI — A 27-year-old Margate man could spend the rest of his life in prison after a Miami federal jury convicted him in a 2023 murder-for-hire case, federal prosecutors announced on Thursday.
Avin Seetaram, also known as “Smalls,” was accused, along with 32-year-old HVAC business owner Somjeet Christopher Singh, also known as “Lil Chris,” in the November 2023 killing of airplane mechanic Suren Seetal, 36, of Miami.
Prosecutors alleged that outside of their day jobs, Singh and Seetal were both in the business of buying and selling fireworks. Singh, then 29, owed Seetal about $315,000 in relation to the fireworks business and the latter was starting to collect, so Singh sought out a hitman to kill Seetal, authorities said.
Prosecutors allege that Singh, of Coral Springs, gave Seetaram, then 24, $5,000 in cash and forgave $10,000 worth of his debt in order to hire a hitman to kill Seetal…
