A Hollywood police lieutenant facing two counts of battery on a person over 65 years of age has been suspended. Not as a police officer — as a lawyer.
The state Supreme Court granted the Florida Bar’s petition for interim suspension of Osvaldo Perez, who has been on administrative leave from the Hollywood Police Department since his arrest last November. The suspension of Perez, a member of the Bar since 2007 with no previous discipline issues as an attorney, begins Oct. 23.
According to a Miramar police arrest warrant signed by Broward Circuit Court Judge Michael Davis, the 5-foot-10, 215-pound Perez injured a woman on Nov. 2 by “grabbing and pushing (her) into a parked vehicle, causing her to fall to the ground and fracture her shoulder.”…
