Older dogs and cats are sometimes surrendered to shelters for various reasons including financial challenges, relocation, or health issues. Yet sometimes families relinquish their pets due to typical signs of aging like incontinence or cognitive difficulties. This traumatic transition to a shelter leaves senior pets feeling abandoned and confused.
Babie the 15-year-old cat was recently brought to the Humane Society of Broward County when her lifelong family left her behind.
For 15 years, Babie knew the comfort of the same home and the same family. Now, at 15 years old, this precious girl has lost the only home she’s ever known and is starting over at our shelter. 💔🥺 Babie was surrendered by her family because of her age and some normal signs of aging. But despite being a senior, she is still a sweet, loving girl who has so much life and love left to give. ❤️ What breaks our hearts the most is how incredibly sweet Babie has been through all of this. She seems completely unfazed by the changes around her and just wants to be loved. She enjoys cuddling, loves attention and will even have little conversations with you! Talk to her and she’ll talk right back. 🥹❤️ After spending her entire life with one family, Babie should be enjoying her golden years in the comfort of a loving home, not waiting in a shelter for someone to give her another chance. 💔 We know adopting a 15-year-old cat isn’t for everyone, but we also know there is someone out there who would love to give this precious girl a soft bed, a sunny window and all the love she deserves for however many years she has left. 🙏❤️ Please help us find Babie a loving retirement home. She has spent 15 years being someone’s companion, and we hope someone will open their heart and give her the same love and loyalty in return. ❤️ Babie is waiting at the Humane Society of Broward County. If you can’t adopt, please share her story so we can find the special person who will make her golden years truly golden. 🙏
