Tamarac’s Residential Assistance Program, originally designed to help residents facing rent increases, was expanded by the city commission Wednesday to help qualified homeowners behind on their mortgage payments.
Qualified Tamarac homeowners who can show they are delinquent in their mortgage payments and need help bringing those payments up to date can now apply for assistance, city officials said.
Tamarac renters who have experienced a rent increase or are paying over 30 percent of their income toward rent can also apply.
Wednesday’s change broadened the eligibility for program applicants but did not add more money to the program , which uses American Rescue Plan funds, city records show.
The expansion to include homeowners was requested by Commissioner Marlon Bolton, records show.
