Woman arrested for allegedly mutilating dog, claims it was a sacrifice

A woman in Florida has been arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty after allegedly stabbing her dog, claiming she had received instructions to do so in a dream, according to reports from multiple news outlets.

Elena Barakova Cowan, aged 37, was taken into custody by the police on Friday. The arrest and charges were reported by Miami police and covered by WPLG and WIOD.

According to details from an arrest report obtained by WPLG, a comprehensive police investigation lasting two months was initiated on November 14 after Cowan brought her dog to a veterinarian for medical attention.

Cowan reportedly told law enforcement officers that, after experiencing nearly four days of sleeplessness, she had a dream that compelled her to stab her dog in the neck multiple times. She believed that this act was necessary as a sacrifice to save humanity.

Fortunately, the dog survived the alleged attack and was placed under the care of Miami-Dade Animal Services, as reported by WIOD, citing information from authorities.
