There’s A Historic French Chateau In Florida Where You Can Find The “Best” Mexican Restaurant

When I mention visiting a historic chateau, I’d bet you’d get a mental picture of the French countryside. And I’d also suspect that you’d envision taking a tour rather than enjoying a meal.

Believe it or not, Florida is home to a French-architecture chateau and Floridians can enjoy a meal there – if they are willing to wait for reservations.

About Chateau Petit Douy: According to Miami History, this French chateau was built in 1931 by the Murrell family. The design is reportedly inspired by the Priory of Saint Julian in France.

About Chateu ZZ: This new restaurant inside the Chateu consists of two separate areas. Upstairs is reserved for members of the private ZZ club, according to The Observer.

According to the South Florida Business Journal, membership for the ZZ club costs up to $18,500. However, patrons with a reservation can dine downstairs and enjoy an authentic Mexican meal. Guacamole with be made table-side from tuxedo-clad waiters.

According to Eater Miami, expect dishes such as coconut snapper ceviche, strip steak al pastor, and stone crab. Tortillas are made in-house and examples of desert offerings are mango cheesecake, coconut tres leches, and churros.
