Neighboring shop owners and residents have been counting down the days for the grand opening of the new Publix just west of Boynton Beach.

The 48,228 square-foot anchor store Publix at Aberdeen Square, which has been closed for renovation for more than a year, will open its doors at 7 a.m., Thursday Feb. 8 near the corner of Military Trail and Le Chalet Boulevard.

Along with the grocery store, the adjoining Publix Liquors will also open Thursday.

Other shop owners at Aberdeen Square have been dealing with a sharp decrease in business, and the reopening of Publix couldn’t come soon enough, they told The Post in 2023.

The original Publix was built in 1990 despite some original opposition from nearby residents of the Trail Bend development, who were worried about traffic congestion.

Times have changed.
