Woman Charged For Fatal 2020 Crash After Going 50 MPH Over The Speed Limit

Fort Lauderdale, FL – A South Florida woman has been arrested for a 2020 car accident after investigators determined she was driving 52 mph over the speed limit before the fatal impact.

Fort Lauderdale police arrested 28-year-old Kimyah Lia Henderson on vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter charges for a fatal crash that occurred in Broward County in 2020.

According to a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest warrant, Henderson, then 25, was allegedly driving drunk when she collided with a turning Hyundai, resulting in the death of the Hyundai’s passenger.

The crash, which happened in the Roosevelt Gardens area, saw Henderson’s blood alcohol content registering at 0.16%, twice the legal limit.

Vehicle data revealed that Henderson was driving her 2005 Toyota Camry at 87 mph in a 35 mph zone just before impact.

The victim, who died at Broward Health Medical Center, was not identified in the warrant.

Henderson, who sustained injuries in the crash, is currently held at Broward Sheriff’s Office’s Paul Rein Detention Facility on a $100,000 bond.
