Federal legislation could cut homeowners insurance premiums by a quarter – report

A Broward commissioner is pushing Congress to pass legislation he says could lower insurance rates for Florida customers “immediately” – and by as much as 25%. The prospective savings, which would come as a huge relief to South Florida residents impacted by some of the highest premiums in the country, were revealed by Broward County commissioner Steve Geller on Thursday.
