Good morning everyone. We’re going to have a very busy day today across almost all of the Gulf Coast, as well as the Atlantic Coast of Florida.

However, things remain very quiet in all of the Northeast. High pressure continues to hold the Northeast hostage in a good way, with gorgeous weather and 80-85 degree temps in New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey today through Sunday and no rain expected.

The Southeast and Gulf Coast are a different story as we await the arrival of Hurricane Francine. Winds are at 90mph at the time of this article and as stated ysterday, we were expecting landfall as a strong Category 1 or minimal Category 2 hurricane. Right now it is 6mph away from becoming a Category 2, and winds may be in excess of 100mph at or just before landfall later this afternoon/evening somewhere between the central/eastern Louisiana coast.

While the obvious risks of storm surge and damging winds are a major concern, the secondary concerns will earn the same amount of caution needed. Severe weather is a major component of a landfallng hurricane, and we will see a widespread severe weather outbreak across the Florida panhandle, Mississippi, Alabama, interior Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennesse, and possibly western Georgia.
