FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (TCN) — A 46-year-old man is in custody after he allegedly shot and killed a restaurant patron during an argument about a song choice made on the jukebox.
According to WPLG-TV, on Monday, Sept. 23, at around 1:30 a.m., Fort Lauderdale Police Department officers were called to Antojitos Mexicanos on Davie Boulevard for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located Socorro Camacho, 54, suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Surveillance footage allegedly showed Camacho and Cesar Esquivel Estrada arguing while Estrada stood at the bar. Camacho reportedly shoved Estrada, and he fell down. After getting up, Estrada shot Camacho several times, then left the restaurant.
WTVJ-TV reports a witness said the argument began because Estrada picked a song on the jukebox, “and the other guy was kind of pissed off and insulted the guy.”
The same witness told WFOR-TV that Camacho reportedly walked up to Estrada and said, “You’re not a real Mexican if you play that music.”
