South Floridians ready for stormy weather; downpours leave some roads flooded

Many South Floridians are preparing for severe weather this week after the region faced widespread rainfall overnight. They’re aware there’s additional rainfall and flooding on the way as Hurricane Milton approaches Florida.

Some low-lying roads — including in parts of Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale and Oakland Park — already were flooded.

Carlos Lopez, 40, of Fort Lauderdale, saw some flooded streets on his drive to Home Depot. “I drove through some deep puddles already on Andrews Avenue,” Lopez said. “If it’s already like that, it could get worse.”
