At first, everyone was enjoying themselves and having fun, exactly what the cruise was meant for.

On September 2, 2023, the Carnival Conquest ship was at the port in South Miami. That night, Kevin had spent the evening on the ship, last being seen on the ship by someone at 2:00 a.m.

The next morning, Kevin didn’t show up for breakfast with his parents, and when his room was found empty, ship authorities were alerted.

A quick check of his cabin key card showed he used it to enter his cabin at 3:30 a.m.

Carnival did search for Kevin, but they received a lot of backlash for how they handled his disappearance.

Cruise ships have an automatic overboard detection system to alert when anyone goes overboard.  This is known as the MOBtronics system. This system never alerted, so they don’t believe Kevin went overboard.

They also checked the ship’s port records, wondering if maybe Kevin disembarked in Miami.
