In a major shakeup, staffing solutions provider ShiftPixy, headquartered in Miami, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy amid soaring debts and significant corporate restructuring. The company, which specializes in connecting businesses with gig workers and temporary hires, confirmed its financial struggles shortly after dismissing CEO Scott Absher.
This filing, submitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on October 28, revealed a grim financial picture for ShiftPixy, burdened by liabilities nearing $10 million, while its assets are estimated between $500,000 and $1 million.
Absher’s departure and ShiftPixy’s descent into bankruptcy are part of a broader upheaval within the company, highlighted by the resignation of board members Whitney White, Christopher Sebes, and Martin Scott. They vacated their positions just a day before the official bankruptcy filing, signaling deeper corporate troubles that have shaken the Miami-based staffing firm’s foundation.
