Florida Is Getting A New Two-Story Prototype Publix By An Outback Steakhouse, Macy’s And Home Depot

Many Floridians know it is becoming increasingly common for Publix to build new types of stores or “prototype” stores. I’ve written about one of them on Gandy Boulevard that went viral for its burrito bar, popcorn station, and wine bar. And now Florida is reportedly getting another one, but this one will be two stories and in the Miami Area.

About The Planned Publix: A new Publix is planned for a 50-year-old strip mall in Kendall – Briar Bay Shopping Plaza. Publix owns this shopping center due to a $16.7 million purchase in 2015.

Demolition on the shopping center started in 2022, although an Outback Steakhouse remains. An old Publix was knocked down and a new one will take its place.

The new Publix will be one of two planned new Publix areas planned for the area. There is a Macy’s close by as well as a Home Depot and the Outback Steakhouse.

Despite the demolition and planned replacement, patrons gave the Briar Bay Publix high marks. It earns 4.5 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. A reviewer named Daniela wrote, in part:
