Florida Congressman Targeted In Foiled Assassination Plot

Margate, FL – Florida Congressman Jared Moskowitz revealed that a plot targeting his life was thwarted by local law enforcement.

Florida Congressman Jared Moskowitz revealed Friday that law enforcement thwarted a “potential plot” against his life, involving a suspect found with a rifle, body armor, and a manifesto containing antisemitic rhetoric.

In a statement on social media, Moskowitz shared that the Margate Police Department informed him about the arrest of 41-year-old John Lapinski of Margate, who was found near the congressman’s home just before Election Day. Evidence collected included a “target” list with Moskowitz’s name.

Moskowitz expressed gratitude to local law enforcement, including the Margate Police Department, which serves his congressional district.

“Serving my constituents is a great honor, but it has put my family in danger,” he wrote on X.

Lapinski was arrested after police responded to a call of shots fired on Halloween. Authorities discovered weapons in his home and charged him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, along with other firearm-related offenses.
