Family-run businesses in Florida must often overcome challenges that chains don’t always have to endure. They tend to have smaller staffs, budgets, and space. So they often have to work a little harder to be successful. A Florida family business, Constantine’s Wood Center, has run for 200 years, so they’ve arguably done something right. Unfortunately, that run is coming to an end.
About Constantine’s Wood Center And Why They Are Closing: This master cabinetwork company began in New York in the 1800s. It would eventually move to Oakland Park in Broward County, Florida, where it would endure for fifty years.
But things changed with the pandemic, with increasing overhead and rent, and online shopping. Co-owner Rudy Rodriguez says he cannot compete with imported furniture sold at stores like Ikea, although he says the company did “everything we could” to hang on.
Now, the store is adorned with a sign that says “Store Closing. Everything Must Go!”
