For two centuries, Constantine’s Wood Center has been a name synonymous with quality craftsmanship and exceptional service. Starting as a master cabinetwork company in New York in the 1800s, the business eventually made its home in Oakland Park, Florida, where it flourished for 50 years. Despite its remarkable legacy, the family-owned business is now closing its doors, citing mounting challenges that have proven too great to overcome.
A Storied History Meets Modern Challenges
Constantine’s journey from its roots in New York to becoming a cherished part of Florida’s woodworking community is a testament to its dedication and resilience. Specializing in fine wood products, tools, and custom designs, the business became a trusted resource for generations of woodworkers and homeowners alike.
But the pressures of the modern market have taken their toll. Co-owner Rudy Rodriguez explained that a combination of rising overhead costs, pandemic-related challenges, and competition from imported furniture at big-box stores like Ikea made it increasingly difficult to keep the business afloat. Despite their best efforts, Constantine’s couldn’t sustain its operations.
