Man dies months after being struck by vehicle in Broward County

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida — A man who was struck by a vehicle in October has died, prompting an investigation by the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit.The incident occurred on October 6, 2024, around 7:41 p.m. near Northwest 31st Avenue and West Sunrise Boulevard in unincorporated Central Broward, near Fort Lauderdale. William Allen, a 34-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, was driving a silver 2006 Dodge Dakota pickup when he attempted to make a left turn and struck an adult male standing in the eastbound lanes, according to investigators.Following the collision, Allen stopped his vehicle, and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue along with BSO deputies responded to the scene. The pedestrian was transported to Broward Health Medical Center and later transferred to hospice, where he succumbed to his injuries on December 19, 2024, approximately two and a half months after the crash, stated the source. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
