Delray Beach Police warn of phone scam using fake warrants and documents to extort money

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A phone scam has made its way to Delray Beach, with the scammer posing as a detective or police officer.

The Delray Beach Police Department (DBPD) said on Wednesday that it has received multiple reports of fraudulent phone calls.

Police said the caller claims to be a DRPD officer or detective, saying there’s a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) in your name, and that you missed a court date, and threatens arrest unless you send money.
