MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – Two individuals face legal repercussions for separate fishing infractions in the Florida Keys, according to reports from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Both men were issued mandatory notices to appear in court on Saturday.
The first incident occurred around noon in the Snake Creek area, where Marine Deputy Nelson Sanchez was conducting routine patrols. Deputy Sanchez inspected a vessel operated by Juan Carlos Iglesias, 42, of Miami, Florida.
During the inspection, Iglesias was found to be in possession of an undersized dolphinfish, commonly known as mahi-mahi.
Later the same day, approximately 6:18 p.m., Middle Keys Marine Deputy Willie Guerra was on patrol near the Long Key Bridge. Deputy Guerra saw Manel Alejandro Gonzalez Abril, 40, of Opa-Locka, Florida, as he caught a goliath grouper…
