Second suspect arrested in Sunrise mail theft case, faces federal charge

SUNRISE, Fla. – A second man has been arrested in connection with a string of mail thefts at a Sunrise apartment complex, just weeks after federal authorities offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the pair’s capture.

According to jail records obtained by Local 10 News on Friday, Fernando Bernabe Rodriguez, 28, was booked into the Broward County Main Jail on Thursday and is being held on a U.S. Marshals Service detainer.

Rodriguez is accused of working with Wilfredo Rivero, 31, who was arrested in late May and faces one count of mail theft.

Prosecutors say the pair were caught on surveillance video using crowbars to pry open mailboxes at an apartment complex, located at 9010 Sunrise Lakes Blvd., on April 26 and 28…
