Miami Beach Police Cruiser Strikes Suspect During Arrest, Man Charged With Battery on an Officer

A man was struck by a Miami Beach police cruiser during an arrest related to an incident near Collins Avenue, surveillance video reveals. Jeremy Stafford, a 30-year-old suspect, was seen on a video obtained by CBS News Miami, being tackled by officers after being hit by the police SUV.

The incident, which took place yesterday morning, started with officers responding to a reported disturbance. Stafford appeared to be ‘highly intoxicated’ and displayed ‘aggressive behavior,’ refusing to follow commands by the police. When officers attempted to detain him, Stafford fled, leading to a foot pursuit that ended when he ran into an oncoming police vehicle. “I have a pacemaker! Aaaah!” Stafford yelled during the takedown, according to WSVN.
