Miami-Dade Community Mourns as Body of Missing 9-Year-Old Anthony Brown Found in Canal

The Miami-Dade community has been struck by tragedy as the search for a missing 9-year-old boy, Anthony Brown, culminated in heartbreak. Anthony, who had been reported missing from Opa-locka, was found deceased in a canal yesterday, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Responding to a scene near Northwest 132nd Street and 28th Avenue at around 12:20 p.m., authorities recovered the young boy’s body floating in the water.

An ongoing investigation into Anthony’s disappearance and death is being carried out by local police. Originally reported missing on Tuesday, concern was heightened due to Anthony’s autism diagnosis and his nonverbal status. Anthony, affectionately known as “King,” was last seen walking southbound on Northwest 32nd Avenue from 129th Street on Tuesday at around 4:15 p.m. His body was eventually discovered in a canal close to the area where he was last observed.
