New FL law cracks down on “Super Speeders”: stiffer fines, jail, suspended license

A new Florida law, “Dangerous Excessive Speeding,” which will go into effect on July 1st, brings stiffer fines, doubling for repeat offenders, mandatory court appearance and possible jail time.

The “super speed” bill – CS/CS/CS/HB 351 – creates a “criminal offense” for those who drive more than 50 mph over the speed limit with a $500 fine, a mandatory court appearance, and up to 30 days in jail.

Those drivers who don’t learn the lesson from their first offense, will learn the hard way: $1,000, 90 days behind bars, and you could even lose your license for a full year…
