While most students are out of school for the summer, the 2025-2026 school year is not far off–meaning some parents are already looking into lunch options for their children.
Two South Florida counties currently have eligibility requirements for a free lunch program, while the other two do not.
Broward County
In a change from last year, Broward County Public Schools announced that not all students will be able to eat lunch for free this coming school year.
Free lunches and reduced-prices for lunches will still be available for those that are eligible, by applying through the website MySchoolApps when applications open on July 14.
Miami-Dade County
Miami-Dade County Public Schools will be providing free breakfast and lunches to their students, and there will be no need to apply to participate in the program.
Palm Beach County
