When school starts in Broward on Aug. 11, everyone who works on campus will be wearing something new: wearable panic buttons.
The idea is to provide another layer of safety. For the last couple of years, school staff have had an app on their phones containing a cyber panic button. Now they will be wearing it on a lanyard around their necks wherever they go on campus, and the technology is already credited with saving lives in a school shooting.
