A Florida woman with a checkered driving record is facing a slew of charges months after she crashed her Mercedes-Benz into a car carrying four people, killing one, before she tried unsuccessfully to sneak away because “her boyfriend told her to,” cops say.
Beverly Yvonne Slaughter, 25, stands accused of 14 charges including vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a crash involving death and driving a license suspended causing death. The crash occurred around 1 a.m. April 29 at the intersection of West Sunrise Boulevard and NW 24th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, a probable cause arrest affidavit said.
Slaughter was driving a 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class east on Sunrise approaching 24th at a “high rate of speed.” As she was entering the intersection, a Nissan Altima had a green left turn signal light and was making a left.
