Three men from Davie were arrested in connection to an illegal lobster catch in the Florida Keys, according to Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers.
Authorities confiscated 53 spiny lobsters on Sunday in Islamorada after investigators said a man was spotted carrying a bucket with one of the crustaceans.
They approached him and his group to inspect their catch, and when they searched their vehicles, they allegedly found two coolers with 53 of the animals, “two speared spiny lobsters, one whole stone crab, a stone crab claw, and a speared, undersized mangrove snapper.”
The lobsters were caught after mini-season but before the regular season, which begins on Aug. 6, the FWC said. Stone crab season, meanwhile, does not open until Oct. 15…
