Bella is one lucky German shepherd; her story has the most positive turns and a happily ever after ending.
On August 5, Bella was pulled from a Fort Lauderdale canal by the Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue. Neighbors had spotted the dog running loose for the last few days and then desperately clinging to the edge of the canal.
Circumstances improved for Bella shortly after fire rescue heroes pulled the friendly dog to safety. A microchip indicated she had been adopted out of Broward County Animal Care in 2018. Police then worked to find her owners.
Bella’s original owner, Lisa Nicholson was overcome with emotion when she received the call about Bella having been found. The last time she had seen her beloved dog had been in 2018 when a fire destroyed the family’s home, forcing them to move to a hotel for more than three months. Bella wasn’t allowed to stay, and the family placed her in the care of one of Lisa’s friends.
Lisa’s friend later gave Bella away, and as much as the dog’s family tried to find her, there had been no trail. Lisa and her family then moved to St. Cloud and by that time, had lost hope of ever finding Bella again; that is – until the phone call that she had been found.
What an exciting time to drive the 200 miles to be reunited with a very special companion…
