NOAA: 80% Chance Tropical Depression Forms, Invest 97L Spaghetti Models

MIAMI, Florida – NOAA’s National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida, issued a Special Tropical Weather Outlook at 9:35 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Sunday, August 10, 2025, due to the presence of Invest 97L located off the coast of Africa.

If Invest 97L develops into a tropical storm or hurricane, the next name on the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane List is Erin.

NOAA National Hurricane Center Invest 97L Projected Path

Recently received satellite-derived wind data indicate that Invest 97L has formed into a well-defined low pressure system about midway between the west coast of Africa and the Cabo Verde Islands with maximum winds of about 35 mph (marked with a red “X”).

NHC forecasters say that, although the associated shower and thunderstorm activity still lacks some organization, only a small increase in the organization could lead to the formation of a tropical depression before the low moves near or across the Cabo Verde Islands tonight and on Monday…
