Man arrested for allegedly slashing tires on marked Surfside Police car

A man is facing charges after he allegedly slashed two tires on a Surfside Police vehicle outside a Miami Beach hospital.

Marcus Covington, 35, was booked into jail early Wednesday on charges of criminal mischief – damage over $1,000 and possession of a weapon while committing an offense, Miami Beach Police officials said.

According to police, the Surfside officer was inside Mount Sinai Medical Center with an arrestee Tuesday night when he received a mobile alert of rapid air loss in both tires on the vehicle.

Surveillance footage showed a man approaching the marked patrol vehicle in the emergency parking lot and bending toward the tires before they were seen fully deflating, officials said…
