Responding to the local community’s needs, the city is taking a measured approach by using temporary materials to initiate this closure and while they have started consensus-building a long-term solution hangs in the balance, waiting on the wings of future funding possibilities and Residential traffic won’t feel much of a pinch from these changes, as recent counts indicate that SE 17th Avenue isn’t as congested as one might expect.

Workers will be on-site Monday to Friday, hammering out improvements from the early buzz of 8 a.m. till the dimming light at 6 p.m., although this is subject to the whims of weather and other unexpected events…
