Broward County’s Animal Care is laying down the welcome mat for families ready to expand their households with four-legged members during this year’s Clear the Shelters campaign. In an effort spearheaded by NBCUniversal Local, this August, adoptive pet parents will not have to pay a dime for adoption fees at Animal Care, as confirmed by a recent press release. They’ve already found homes for a commendable count of 175 pets – with cats leading the numbers at 130 and dogs at 45.
Despite the waived adoption fees, every animal will leave the shelter with up-to-date vaccinations, spay or neuter surgeries, and a microchip. Adopters will still be responsible for the standard pet registration fees, and they can browse potential new members of their family online. “We are committed to building a more humane community-one adoption at a time,” Doug Brightwell, Director of Broward County Animal Care, said while discussing the significance of each adoption, as noted by the county’s website…
