Man takes plea deal in 2023 Pompano Beach movie theater attack caught on camera

More than two years after a man was brutally beaten inside a Pompano Beach movie theater in an incident that was caught on camera, the man charged in the beating has accepted a plea deal.

Jesse Montez Thorton, 29, pleaded no contest Tuesday to a charge of aggravated battery with great bodily harm in the July 10, 2023 attack.

In exchange, Thorton was sentenced to 21 months in prison, though he’ll get credit for 582 days he’s already been behind bars.
