FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — The St. Lucie County Medical Examiner confirmed to CBS12 News that two of the three victims killed in a deadly Florida Turnpike crash earlier this month have now been claimed by family. One body remains at the examiner’s office as officials wait for a signed release to transfer it to a funeral home.
The victims, identified by authorities as Herby Dufresne, 30, of Florida City; Rodrigue Dor, 54, of Miami; and Faniola Joseph, 37, of Pompano Beach, were killed August 12 when their minivan slammed head-on into a semi-truck that had made an illegal U-turn on the Turnpike in St. Lucie County.
The driver of that truck, 28-year-old Harjinder Singh, is facing felony charges of vehicular homicide and manslaughter. Investigators say Singh, who was in the U.S. without legal status, blocked lanes of traffic when he attempted the U-turn.
