The popular eatery Marian’s Bagels, located in Plantation, Florida, filed for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Aug. 22, after being in business for half a century.
Marian’s Bagels is a local institution, with one location, serving bagels and smears, salads, breakfast plates, and more to the surrounding community. They are a popular spot, so much so that they recently earned a spot on the Miami New Times list of ‘9 Must-Try Best Bagels in Fort Lauderdale.’
Despite the local popularity, the future of their business is unknown as they navigate their bankruptcy filing. Marian’s isn’t the only company seeking protections. Bravo Brio Restaurants LLC and its subsidiaries filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in order to improve its financial position.
Marian’s Bagels’ bankruptcy filing
According to their voluntary petition, L & D Cafe, Inc., which operates as Marian’s Bagels, elected to proceed under Subchapter V of Chapter 11 as a small business debtor.
