Florida man skips trial, convicted in Madison County auto burglary spree, now wanted

MADISON — A Madison County jury has convicted a Florida man of 11 counts of auto burglary and one count of conspiracy, prosecutors announced Wednesday.

Victor Andrew Ogiste, 29, of Fort Lauderdale, was found guilty Tuesday after a two-day trial in Madison County Circuit Court, District Attorney John K. “Bubba” Bramlett said. As a nonviolent habitual offender, he faces up to 82 years in prison without the possibility of parole.

The case stemmed from an Oct. 13, 2023, incident at Burn Boot Camp in Madison, where officers said multiple cars were burglarized during a 5 a.m. workout class. Windows were smashed and purses, wallets, credit cards and checkbooks were stolen…
