ALDI Taking Over This Former Winn-Dixie in Fort Lauderdale

For more than half a century, shoppers in Fort Lauderdale knew the Southland Shopping Center by its Winn-Dixie anchor. That chapter is now over. The grocery store is listed as “temporarily closed,” and ALDI has already claimed the address on its official site, setting up the next evolution for this mid-century plaza.

ALDI lists this address on its official site, indicating plans for the space. An opening date has not been announced. Ownership shifted in early 2022, when RMS Properties purchased the center for $16.8 million, signaling reinvestment in the site even before ALDI’s entry.
