Tucked into a modest Oakland Park strip mall, Fat Freddy’s Sub Shop has earned a reputation as one of the area’s best-kept culinary secrets. Known for its generously stuffed cheesesteaks and cold subs – better known as “chop chops.” The shop recently expanded its menu to include juicy smashburgers—made “the right way, your way.”
Owner Cathy Cerniglia says, “Whether it’s a steak sub, chicken sub, egg sub, or a platter, we’ve got you covered. People tell us all the time this is the best sub shop of them all—and we love seeing them leave happy.” Prior to Cerniglia acquiring the business in Spring 2025, Fat Freddy’s had been operating in this location for 30 years.
