Woman facing charges accused of impersonating childhood friend, authorities say

A South Florida nurse said she went to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after family members received text messages that she had been arrested.

She told police the claim was false and later learned a childhood friend had allegedly impersonated her during an arrest.

Suspect gave false name

Police said 30-year-old Cinthia Maria Diaz was taken into custody this weekend on charges including burglary and aggravated assault after threatening a woman with a knife and possessing controlled substances.

Investigators said Diaz gave officers a false name during the arrest, which belonged to her former friend.

Victim identifies photo

According to police, the victim told investigators she had not seen Diaz in years. When officers later showed her a booking photo of Diaz at the correctional center, she confirmed the suspect was the same woman she once knew…
