Man arrested in alleged hit-and-run crashes in Miami that left woman dead: Police

A man is facing vehicular homicide and other charges after a pair of hit-and-run crashes in Miami that left a woman dead last week, police said.

Oscar Andres Portillo Lopez, 24, was arrested Friday on charges of vehicular homicide in a reckless manner and leaving the scene of a crash causing serious bodily injury, records showed.

The first crash happened just before 11 p.m. Thursday at Northwest 12th Avenue and Northwest 20th Street, when a Honda Accord allegedly driven by Portillo Lopez rear-ended a Chevrolet Colorado, an arrest report said.

The driver of the Colorado noticed the Accord was “swerving from left to right at a high rate of speed before it suddenly rear-ended her vehicle,” the report said…
