A standoff in Port St. Lucie came to a close yesterday after a man, identified as Antonio Conde Cabrera, ended a tense situation by surrendering to authorities. According to CBS12, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance call on Entrada Avenue near U.S. Highway 1 yesterday at approximately 2:43 p.m., which escalated when Cabrera reportedly locked himself inside a bedroom.
The sheriff’s deputies were able to successfully to negotiate and convince Cabrera to come out peacefully, averting potential harm to all involved parties. The sheriff’s office praised its officers, sharing that “Thanks to the professionalism, training, and measured response of our deputies, a potentially dangerous situation was resolved peacefully, with no injuries reported,” in a statement obtained by CBS12. Cabrera, 40, from Dania Beach, was later taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
