TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A judge ruled Friday that a portion of the Florida law that prohibits adults under 21 from carrying a concealed firearm is unconstitutional.
As the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports, the decision in Broward County court effectively dismisses the case against Joel Walkes, 19, who was arrested for having a gun when police responded to his disabled vehicle in March.
The judge said the law cited in the arrest violates Walkes’ Second Amendment rights and contradicts other Florida laws regarding concealed carry. 18-to-20 year olds are also treated as adults in other legal settings…
